About AIMS

AIMS is a non-profit membership organisation, dedicated to the advancement and promotion of high-quality international education in Malaysia through the ethical collaboration and cooperation of its members.
We do this through:
- Fostering Understanding: Promoting global citizenship and intercultural understanding within our Malaysian context.
- Facilitating Collaboration: Providing a forum for international schools in Malaysia to meet, collaborate, and discuss matters of mutual interest.
- Advocating for International Education: Provide a voice for international schools with state and federal governments, advocating for policies and practices which benefit international education and student outcomes.
- Improving Educational Standards: Acting as a consultative body that contributes to the continuous improvement of educational standards in Malaysia through sharing expertise and best practices.
- Enhancing Professional Development: Providing opportunities for professional development for and for the sharing of best practice amongst educators and administrators in international schools.
- Promoting Student Enrichment: Providing student enrichment activities and inter-school competitions and events, fostering a well-rounded educational experience that includes academic, artistic, athletic, and social development.
Membership
Membership of AIMS
AIMS welcomes membership from schools that meet the following criteria:
- Registered with the Ministry of Education in Malaysia.
- Enroll students who do not follow the Malaysian Curriculum.
- Recognized by, or affiliated with, an international, regional, or governmental educational examination authority.
- Provide education at the kindergarten, primary, or secondary level.
Additionally, AIMS welcomes affiliate membership from organizations that meet the following criteria:
- Are education facing/involved
- Have an ongoing relationship with at least two (2) current AIMS member schools who will support their membership
- Operate within Malaysia
Diverse Membership
AIMS schools represent a wide spectrum of educational offerings, varying in size, curriculum, and ethos. Many schools follow established international curricula, such as:
- United Kingdom models.
- Australian frameworks.
- North American curricula and philosophies.
Some schools blend a national educational system with an international outlook tailored to the Malaysian context. Additionally, certain AIMS schools provide boarding facilities to meet the diverse needs of their students and families.
Independence and Governance
AIMS member schools operate independently in terms of ownership and management. It is important to note that AIMS does not exert financial or governance control over its member schools.
